I am Kevin, originally from Holland, living close to Utrecht. I enjoy creating high quality cloud native solutions. I have an engineering mindset, am result driven and try to have a lot of fun in my daily job. I have 15 years experience working in IT, I worked in most software development related roles as trainer, teacher, backend developer, frontend developer, scrum master, product owner, project manager, software architect, innovation manager, and DevOps coach. While I am a big fan of technical hand-on keyboard work I also like to help organisations to accelerate software delivery and create the best software development experience possible. If you are looking for a list of technology, skills, and trainings I can consult on, please look at the skills page.
I had the privilege to work with AWS, GCP, and Azure but have a strong focus on AWS services. I have hands-on experience with common base building block services like: IAM, Cloudwatch, Cloudtrail. I worked with different storage services like S3, RDS (Postgres, Aurora), DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Timestream. For computation I worked with the major computational infrastructure like ec2, Fargate, ECS, EKS, Lambda. In recent years I have had the opportunity to build a range of Serverless solutions. I am a huge fan of the highly scalable architectures that can be devised with Lambda, step-functions, SQS, SNS, Kinesis.
Having worked as consultant and teacher for years I find a lot of energy in working with teams and always felt inspired to lead by example like my best mentors did for me. The discipline of software engineering has created talented individuals and it brings me great joy to make everyday of software creation a day of learning.
n the 15 years I am building software solutions I always used extensive tooling. Just like when I am doing some woodworking in my private time I want to use the best tools on the market! In my early days I adopted Hudson which later became Jenkins and over the years it progressed to Gitlab and Azure DevOps recently for CI/CD coordination. Coming from a application development background it made infrastructure automation an easy step. My current tooling involves a.o. Terraform, Cloudformation, CDK, Docker, Ansible and Bash. The best tools in the world cannot prevent failure on a badly designed business process. After my bachelor in software engineering I went on to study economics and information science. Both brought me a better understanding in developing a strong organisation.
